New Year’s Resolution Time (again)!

What can we do to be sure we succeed in achieving our fitness goals this year?  Remember, failing to plan is planning to fail!  Below are a few tips to help you get started.

What are our goals?  Most of us would say: ‘lose weight, get more fit, and eat a healthier diet.’  Those are all great health goals, and easily attainable if we break them down into smaller pieces:

  1. Weight loss- Don’t get overwhelmed by the overall number. Whether you want to lose 10, 20, or even 100 lbs., it all starts with that first pound.  Set a goal to lose 1-2 lb. per week.  This is healthy and sustainable number to hit.  Begin by making small changes to your diet like drinking more water, adding in an extra veggie per day, and focusing on eating whole non-processed foods.  This will give you a great start to your first goal.

  1. Getting into better shape- This is another spot where people often fall short. Joining the local globo-gym just for the sake of joining, won’t get you where you need to be. Why?  Because there is no accountability, and no one checks up to see what you are doing there.  If you did show up, what did you do for a workout?  How hard did you work?  I recommend investing a little money in yourself and paying for some quality personal or small group training.  Here at CrossFit KMK that is what we specialize in doing.

  1. Eat a healthier diet- This is another spot where it helps to hire a professional. Let a certified nutritionist or dietitian help map out a plan of action instead of listening to your friend who happened to lose 20 lbs. on some kooky fad diet.  Invest in your health and have a professional who understands the science of nutrition and weight loss help. Here at KMK we have 3 nutritionists who are happy to help get you get started on the path to better health and wellness.
